I am not hear to complain as I understand there are known issues with this set-up but simply to clarify my understanding before i make a purchase.
I got an old Casio LK-93TV down from the attic and had a moment of excitement when i realised i could use a printer usb cable to hook it up with my mac, and thus garageband.
Garageband did not recognise my device and so I hit the best users guide known to man and searched blogs and forums. It quickly became apparent that mac compatibility is not high on casio music's to-do list. All hope was lost, I would have to purchase a new keyboard something that is not an option.
But i went and tracked down the user manual and product page online. My understanding now is that as long as my keyboard has a MIDI-out port
(which i take it it has as the product page states 'MIDI (16-channel multi-timbre receive)' and has a 'General MIDI' logo)
I can purchase a cheap midi interface such as this and when all is plugged in, I should have my desired mac and thus garageband compatibility.
Will a midi interface do the job?
Does my model even have a MIDI in/out port?
Can I achieve compatibility at all?
Any help or clarification would be great!
